Debt-Free & Financial Aid

How Can I Do This Debt-Free?

One of the greatest advantages of Verity is just how affordable we can make earning your fully accredited degree. Founded in 2001 with that as one of our primary goals, Verity remains committed to providing quality education at a fraction of the cost of a traditional college program. Here are some ways we help Verity students save:

Accelerated Approach

Countless students following the traditional college paradigm fall into debt each year, accumulating over $33,000 in loans on average by the time they graduate. With Verity’s modular study approach, 82% of our students complete their bachelor’s degree in less than 3 years, and most are able to graduate debt-free. Calculate the immense savings that come from this accelerated approach, alongside the two years Verity graduates have to jumpstart their career or further their education ahead of their peers, and the value of this investment can truly be immeasurable.

Savings Through Credit-by-Examination

A highly effective way Verity students save in their education is through earning the vast majority of their general education credits through testing. With well-established, nationally recognized programs such as the College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) and DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) readily available, it is easier than ever for students to save thousands of dollars as they test for credits and work towards their degree.

In-State Tuition With Accrediting College

Through a unique partnership that Verity shares with Thomas Edison State College (TESC), our students automatically receive in-state tuition for degrees earned through TESC. This results in approximately half the enrollment costs of what non-residents would pay.

Scholarship Application

“When I received the Verity scholarship it truly blessed me in many ways I never could have imagined. Verity’s gift has helped me fulfill a God-given dream to complete my college degree. If it were not for the scholarship fund, I would have 39 credits less and only a quarter of my degree finished.”

Work-Study

Verity’s on-campus work-study program is designed to allow students to work in exchange for tuition credit. Students participating in this program work up to seven hours per week in addition to all other responsibilities.  Work-study availability varies based on Verity’s current needs as well as the applicant’s qualifications. Students may apply after their first semester on campus.

Pell Grants (FAFSA)

The federally sponsored FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) program provides a way for students to apply for tuition assistance in the form of Pell Grants. These funds are first applied to TESC’s tuition and instruction costs, and any excess funds may be eligible for use in applying towards Verity’s fees. Please contact our Admissions Office for additional information at 866-9VERITY or info@aboutverity.org.

Frequently Asked Questions for FAFSA

What is FAFSA?
FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid and is the form all college students fill out when seeking federal financial assistance. It is a means for gathering important family and fiscal information to determine a student’s ability to pay for college. A Pell Grant is money awarded to students who have filled out a FAFSFA form and qualify for financial aid. Pell Grants cannot be received without first filling out a FAFSA form.

How early should I apply for financial aid?
At least two months prior to the semester in which you’d like to receive financial aid.

How long does it typically take to receive a response from FAFSA?
4-8 weeks.

Can I apply financial aid towards Verity’s costs?
Funds from Pell Grants first go directly towards TESC tuition and class costs. Any excess funds from the grant will be reimbursed to the student and can then be applied to Verity’s costs.

Under which institution should I apply for financial aid?
Verity students may apply for financial aid under Thomas Edison State College.

Do I need to enroll in TESC before applying?
No. But after being granted eligibility for a Pell Grant, there is usually a deadline before which enrollment in a college must occur.
